Sarah O’Brien is a senior lecturer and programme leader for the BA in Performance for Live and Recorded Media in the school of Arts and Media at Teesside University. She teaches performance for Theatre and Live Art and acting for Film and TV.

Sarah gained a PhD through practice at Lancaster University in 2006; the research thesis submitted was a series of live multimedia performance events and a supporting exegesis. Sarah continues to conduct her current research through both writing practice (academic and creative) and performance (live art, video installation and site-specific). Her research areas of interest include digital media, subjectivity and identity; the Uncanny and the state of disorientation; theatricality of the object and the concealed/unseen performer.
